Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, popularly known as “MBBS”, is an undergraduate medical professional course. The medical degree is awarded by medical colleges which authorize the degree holder to start practicing medicine and surgery. Following the tradition of the United Kingdom, it is a combination of two separate degrees. In India, MBBS is a 5.5-year course including one year of compulsory rotating internship. The course starts with basic pre-clinical subjects like Anatomy, Biochemistry, Physiology, and ends with advanced clinical and surgery allied subjects like Obstetrics, Pediatrics, ENT, Anesthesiology, Orthopedics, etc. The whole course is divided into 9 semesters and consists of 3 professional examinations.
